Calgarys Loft 112 marks its first year

Located in Calgary’s East Village, Loft 112 recently celebrated its first anniversary with an event that paid homage to Andy Warhol.

Some of the festivities that helped to mark the event were based on artist’s 1960s New York studio, named ‘The Factory’, where many famous artists and musicians would choose to spend time. Borrowing from the name of that location, the celebration was named ‘Factory 112’, and even included an Andy Warhol lookalike.

The loft’s director remarked that the plans were intended to encourage people to have fun while exploring new art Forms and ideas. There was a juried exhibition of works that drew inspiration from Warhol’s use of color and style. There was also a collaborative effort by artists to create an installation of prints inspired by Warhol.

Those who took part were invited to dress in their best ‘60s-themed garb, and it even offered activities for younger enthusiasts, such as readings from the book ‘Uncle Andy’s A Faabbbulous Visit With Andy Warhol’, and a session where they learned to sketch in his style.

A flyer printing firm can create promotional materials that help to spread the word about such an event, and they can also produce whatever other printed materials may be required.

Loft 112 opened last May, and will be offering other exhibits and themed installations throughout the year.
