Calgary housing market received boost in February

Real estate Signs are springing up all over in Calgary these days. The demand for these Signs has increased over the past year, and luckily, Print companies in Calgary have been able to meet the demand for them. Given the upturn in the housing market, real estate companies in the area have been using them as fast as they have been printed. Calgary single-family homeowners can rejoice in the fact that both sales and prices were higher in February 2011 than what was seen in February 2010.

In February of this year, 1,169 single-family homes were sold in Calgary. The average sale price was $461,786. February of 2010 saw 1,035 single-family dwellings sold at an average price of $458,354. The stats were provided by the Calgary Real Estate Board. Growth has been seen in the market for single-family dwellings for the past two months consecutively, as far as growth in the month compares to that of the same month one year ago.

Sales of condominiums, however, have dropped for the past ten months, as compared to condo sales in 2010. This year, Calgary saw 468 sales in the condominium market in February, which is down from the 536 condo sales in February of 2010.Calgary Real Estate president Sano Stante said:

“Sales of single-family homes priced below $400,000 are driving the gradual recovery with the expectation that as the year progresses we should see the sales shift to home priced in the mid-range of the market.”
