People from all over the city came out to participate in the 23rd instalment of the CIBC Run For the Cure, which was held in south east Calgary. It was one of 64 Run For the Cure events that were held throughout the country.
Nearly 7,500 participants came out to run, walk, or jog the 5km route. While not everyone was able to complete the full course, they all had fun and raised money that will be used to help support breast cancer research and educational programs. Many of those who took part came out dressed in pink costumes, had pink streaks in their hair, or wore pink t shirts, all to show their support.
Many of the runners had either battled the disease themselves or knew someone who did, and were running to either show support for them or to honour the memory of those who didn’t make it.
The run raised $1.28 million in Calgary alone, and across the country $25 million was collected. Banner printing firms can create Banners that show support to the runners and the people they are running for.
