Calgary hospital to host first Rheumatology Family Day

Calgary will be hosting the first ever Calgary Pediatric Rheumatology Family Day in April, giving those battling illnesses a reason to celebrate.

Autoimmune and other rheumatic diseases like arthritis, lupus and scleroderma can affect kids and adults alike, and this special gathering will give young people who are living with an autoimmune disease a chance to join with others their age who understand what they are going through, while parents can meet and connect with one another. The event is intended for kids from toddler age to late teens, and siblings are also welcome.

While younger attendees mingle and have fun, parents and caregivers can learn more about autoimmune diseases and the various treatment options that are available. The social, educational and daily living challenges their son or daughter faces can also be discussed, and they can also build their support network.

While this event is free to attend, registration is required. Lunch and snacks will be served, and the organizers explained that they have also included some surprises in their plans for the day. Promotional Products can be prepared for this sort of event, and these can be added to swag Bags for the kids who participate.

Alberta Children’s Hospital has invited families in the province impacted by autoimmune disease to come out to learn, celebrate and have fun. It will be hosting this function at 28 Oki Drive NW on April 18th.
