The Alberta Children’s Hospital is a vital health care resource in the province, providing services to children and their families, and a group of Calgary residents and businesses wanted to raise money for this very important cause.
On May 4th to May 14th, they will be hosting the Hockey Marathon for Kids, which they hope will be a record breaking hockey game in support of the hospital. If things go as planned, it will be the longest game of hockey ever played.
One of the highlights of the event will be a draw for a 2013 Dodge Dart, which has been generously donated by Carsco Auto Sales Ltd.
In 2012, the same group hosted a game that lasted 246 hours and raised $1.7 million, which was allocated to the hospital’s children’s cancer research and pediatric intensive care units.
If all goes according to plan, the game should raise over $2 million, which will go towards supporting the hospital’s brain health research unit. Funds will also go to Samuel’s Ride for Rescue and Southern Alberta Flood Relief.
So far, they are well on their way to reaching their fundraising goal.
