Calgary event to showcase Japanese culture

A Calgary celebration of Japanese food, music and other cultural offerings will be adding some extra fun to August, and there's different ways for the local community to get involved in this two-day festival.

Omatsuri is on the way for the city’s Max Bell Centre, and different entertainment has been scheduled for both days. Demonstrations of martial arts as well as music and dance and a pop up vendor marketplace are all in the works, and the Friday will have a contemporary theme, while the Saturday will be focused on traditional aspects of the culture of Japan.

To help make the function a success, the planners have put out a request to the community seeking volunteers. Everyone who is interested is encouraged to take part, and a mandatory Volunteer Orientation session will be offered beforehand. Those who make the commitment to do so will receive a tee shirt printed with a special graphic design, and refreshments will be served during their scheduled shift.

Cultural festivals can be both fun and educational, and they may require specialized printing services. These will be available at professional printers, which will have options such as wide format and Variable Data Print technology.

The Omatsuri Japanese Festival will take place in Calgary on August 9th and 10th. More information about the event as well as how to register to volunteer, can be found on its website.
