This spring, an event will be held in both Calgary and Edmonton to raise money to help some of the province’s tiniest citizens.
In Calgary, the Sport Check Mother’s Day Walk, Run and Ride will take place in Chinook Centre, starting at 8:40 in the morning. There will be
5km and 10km routes for walkers, runners and those who use a wheelchair. For the kids, there will also be a Little Legs Race. For events like these, Banners are usually hung at the start and finish lines to help thank those who participated and also to draw the public’s attention to the cause.
Those who participate will be able to pick up their event packages at the Max Bell Centre on any one of the days leading up to the run.
Funds raised will be used to help support he Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) at Rockyview General Hospital, the Foothills Medical centre and also the Peter Loughheed and South Health Campus. It will be put to use in purchasing specialized equipment and other supplies to help care for the babies who need to spend some time in these units after they are born.
This is the largest fundraising event in the province that is geared towards families. It is scheduled to happen on Sunday, May 8th. Registration is now open, and further information is available on the Mother’s Day Run and Walk website.
