For the past eight years, the Calgary Food Bank has held a fundraising campaign during the Calgary Stampede, and it recently announced that a driver has been found for this year’s efforts.
Burnet Duckworth and Palmer, LLP was able to acquire Gary Gorst, who is a GMC Rangeland Derby driver. The company has also sponsored the chuck wagon that the food bank will have set up during the event. Its name will be printed on the tarp that covers it during one of the ten days that the stampede will be taking place. One the other nights, other companies that have agreed to act as a food bank sponsor will have theirs on the tarp. This is just one type of unusual item that can be produced using wide format printing techniques.
This fundraiser, dubbed “Put the Boots to Hunger”, has proven to be a success in the past. Last year, it was able to raise $340,000, and since it was first started in 2008, almost $4.5 in both money and food has been collected. The hope is that this year, it will do just as well or even better. A spokesperson for the charity noted that it can use donations at any time of the year, and this particular effort is made during a time when contributions tend to fall.
