Calgarys Cochrane Trail one step closer to getting started

Thanks to a successful fundraising effort, things are looking up for the future Calgary Cochrane Trail.

In the past month, over $30,000 has been collected towards the $100,000 goal, which needs to be met by July 1st.

This was set back in February by the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation. The monies would be put towards the $352,000 cost to construct the Bearspaw Trail, which will connect Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park with the Haskayne Park in Calgary.

When it is finished, the paved trail will be 2.2 kilometers long and three meters wide. It’s part of a three-step plan to connect the city of Calgary with Cochrane. The total price tag for the project is estimated to be $7.5 million.

Signage can be very useful along this type of pathway system. A poster printing firm can provide this, as well as any other items that are needed.

According to Tara McFadden, who is the park’s community engagement and development officer, the trail will not only be used by cyclists and pedestrians for recreation, but will also be available for use in bike races and marathons. She noted that it is vital that the July goal is reached.

It is hoped that the entire project, including a railway underpass and pedestrian bridge, will be completed at some point in 2020.
