Calgary workshop to teach pickle perfection

Pickles provide a tasty way to capture the bounty of summer, and the public is invited to come and learn how to make their own during a special event planned for the Calgary Farmers’ Market.

The Jungle Farm will be supplying the farm fresh cucumbers for this event, which will be transformed into pickles while the crowd watches on. As the process takes place, people can ask questions and learn tips and tricks they can use to become “pickle pros”. As it will be a hands-on event, those who participate will be able to learn and practice techniques to make all sorts of different preserves.

At the end of the session, the attendees will each receive a copy of the recipe so they can make their own version of this preserved food. They will also have a jar of them to take home and enjoy sharing with friends and family.

The workshop is open to anyone over 12 years of age, and the ticket price has been set at $45.00 each. Those who organize a function such as this can use a printer’s lamination service to create well-presented recipe cards to give to the registrants.

The Pickle making session has been planned for August 6 at the Farmers’ Market. Anyone who would like further details, or who wants to register to participate, can do so by visiting the Jungle Farm website.
