Calgary workshop to hand craft outdoor holiday decor

When other trees are cold and bare, evergreens add a touch of green and warmth to the winter landscape. This November, they will serve as the base for a decorative outdoor arrangements that will be created by the participants in a Calgary crafting session hosted by 2 Gals in a Garden.

A variety of scented greenery – including balsam fir, cedar, spruce and pine – will be used to create large outdoor arrangements that can be perfect for the front doorstep. The equipment and supplies needed to prepare these pieces of decor will be provided, and the facilitators will guide the group, step by step, through the process of creating their own masterpiece.

The participants will learn how to prepare their arrangement, including the basic principles of floral design. Along with this, they will be taught how to care for their creation so that it will keep on looking great throughout the holiday season. The greenery, as well as brightly coloured berries, cones and other items needed to customize the pieces are included in the registration fee, as is the planter that will be used.

A portion of the proceeds of this crafting class will be donated to the Strathcona Christie Community Association. Printed care sheets that have been prepared by a printing company that supplies Letterheads can be distributed during this type of class so that they will be able to keep their arrangement in top shape for weeks to come.

Tickets for this hands on workshop are $90 each. It will be held at 277 Strathcona Drive Southwest on November 28.
