Calgary to offer class to dye for

A Calgary class will soon teach attendees how an assortment of plants can be used to dye fabrics and other textiles.

The workshop will teach participants how to use a variety of natural materials to dye hemp, cotton, linen, wool and other materials, and making them colourfast by using mordants is also on the agenda. The fee to take part in the session is $60.00.

The group will be working with natural ingredients such as indigo, and many of them will be foraged in the local area. The use of exotics will also be introduced, and the attendees can learn which plants produce which shades. They will find out how to prepare a basic dye bath, and clay resist prints and tie dyeing will both be covered. All of the materials will be provided, and the ticket holders will go home with a cloth napkin they created.

This two-hour workshop has room for up to 30 learners, and there are three different start times to choose from. Organizers often choose to hand out instructional materials during a workshop like this, and these may be prepared by Stationery printers.

The Natural Fabric Dyeing & Flower Prints workshop will be offered on November 18th. The venue is located in North West Calgary, and it will be released to the participants upon registration.
