Calgary presentation to explore secret life of prairie badgers

Friends of Fish Creek is hoping its “Badgers in Your Backyard” presentation later this month will help to dispel some of the mystery that surrounds these garden animals.

Nicole Heim, M. Sc., who is a wildlife biologist from the local area, will be sharing what she has learned during her more than 15 years of studying carnivores such as badgers. She will discuss these creatures and what makes them unique, and the audience will be able to ask questions.

During her presentation, Heim will share details about the life cycle of badgers and how, as carnivores, they contribute to the overall health of their ecosystem. By offering factual information, she is hoping to dispel some of the myths that surround these creatures. The impact humans and their activities have had on badgers and other wildlife will also be included in the discussion.

By offering members of the public who are interested in wildlife accurate information, an event like this can help to play a role in a species’ long-term survival. A poster printing professional can use graphic design techniques to produce effective marketing material that can ensure the public is aware of when and where it will be held.

The session is on Wednesday, June 19 at 13931 Woodpath Rd. SW. Tickets are $10 for the general public, while members of Friends of Fish Creek will be admitted free of charge.
