A gala event was recently held at Calgary Zoo that raised money to help support its conservation efforts.
The Tusks and Tails Gala brought attention to the Canadian Wilds, allowing guests the chance to watch a family of river otters playing, as well as to enjoy a rare opportunity to see a whooping crane and even name a grizzly bear.
The event was sponsored by Dow, and those who took part were served a meal and had a chance to purchase raffle tickets for ladies bracelets that had been donated by Calgary Jewelry. There was also a silent auction and a presentation by Dr. Axel Moehrenschlager, who is the facility’s director of Conservation and Science. A printing company could have worked with the organizers to produce decorations that can fit perfectly into the overall theme of such a night, and can do so at a cost that will not take that much out of the over budget for the evening.
Those who attended the gala got to learn more about the zoo’s contribution to conservation throughout the country and around the world, and how it is recognized as a North American leader in doing so. Calgary Zoo has reintroduced endangered and rare species like burrowing owls, black tailed prairie dogs, whooping cranes, and black footed ferrets back into the wild.
