Event explores Calgarys nighttime flyers
A special activity will soon offer Calgary residents the chance to explore the world of moths and bats at night.
St. Patrick’s Island will soon be visited by the individuals and families that register for the Bat & Moth Night that will be held in late July. It will introduce these nighttime flyers to the public, and it will be a hands-on experience.
The function will mark National Moth Week, and there will be light stations on site that will attract a variety of species for close-up viewing. There will be equipment provided so that attendees can hear the sounds bats use for echolocation and to hunt their prey. It will be a relaxed activity, and nature experts will offer advice, provide information and answer any questions from the crowd. Everyone is asked to bring a flashlight, a light jacket and some insect repellent. The proceeds from the event will be donated to Nature Calgary.
Nature-based learning can be fun for any age. A printing services company will be able to provide environmentally friendly and sustainable marketing materials for such an event.
The Bat & Moth Night on St. Patrick’s Island will offer an introduction to Calgary’s high-flying night crew on Saturday, July 26th. It will begin at 10:00 pm at 656 Confluence Way SE, and tickets are $6.50 each.
