With the advent of home DNA testing kits, genealogy is a hobby that is on the rise, and a Calgary workshop may aid in making the practice a lot less confusing.
A combination of an online and in-person class will soon be hosted at the Alberta Family Histories Society (AFHS) Library, located at 712- 16 Avenue Northwest. It will be geared towards beginners, and the final day to submit a request to participate is March 15th.
The first part of the workshop will take place using the Zoom platform, and the registrants will be able to participate from wherever they wish. This section of the learning will be instructional. The second day will be held in person at the AFHS Library, and the participants can put their new skills into practice. There will be volunteers on hand to help the attendees utilize the resources available to them on site. The activity is free for AFHS members and $25.00 for non-members.
Learning how to access and read historical records can be really helpful to those interested in genealogical research. A brochure printing company will be happy to prepare materials for such an educational workshop.
This opportunity for Calgary’s amateur genealogists to add some new skills to their toolbox is scheduled for March 19th and April 2nd. Anyone who would like to register is asked to contact AFHS via email.
