Airdrie station to celebrate Fire Prevention Week

Airdrie firefighters feel will be offering the public a sneak peek into their operations.

Chinook Winds Fire Station will soon open its doors for an insider’s view of how it keeps the community safe, in honour of Fire Prevention Week. There will be activities for all ages on offer, and it will take place on a Saturday afternoon.

Those who drop by will be able to meet the station’s mascot Sparky, as well as the firefighters and Fire Chief. Treats will be served, and there will be games and other fun. The young and the young at heart can view and sit in the fire engine.

The station will have a variety of demonstrations on offer, and there will be the opportunity to learn about local fire bans and why they may be put in place. Fire prevention in the home, the importance of preparing an escape plan and the proper way to choose and use a household fire extinguisher will round out the event.

To encourage the kids to learn as much about fire safety as they can, safety passports will be handed out. Once completed, they can be exchanged for a Dairy Queen treat. Custom Promotional Products for an event like this can be sourced from a local printing services company.

Chinook Winds Free Station has scheduled its open house event for October 19th. It will start at 12:00 pm.
