Airdrie plans Canada Day parade

Airdrie will be joining communities all across the country when it celebrates Canada Day next month, and local residents have been given an opportunity to get involved in all the fun.

The city will be holding a Canada Day parade, and the presenting sponsor for the celebration is Qualico Communities. The procession is scheduled for the morning, and those who are interested can register a float or other entry.

The participants will follow a route that starts on Main Street and winds up on Allen Street. Both commercial and not-for-profit entries are welcome, and there is enough space for a total of 85 floats. Applicants will need to supply a drawing, photo or description of their float to be pre-approved by organizers, and they must be family friendly. Each will need to be able to navigate a 90-degree turn, and carry public liability insurance.

Entering a parade can be a fun way for a business to show its civic pride. A banner printing company will be happy to provide budget-friendly options for custom decor.

Airdrie’s Canada Day parade will be starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 1st. Roads will be closing at 9:30 am ahead of the parade’s start. More details, as well as a chance to register, is available on the City of Airdrie website. The application process closes on June 20th.
