What's Happening in Airdrie, AB…

Airdrie event to celebrate joys of reading

At the end of January, Airdrie will celebrate literacy with a special day of activities, and Nose Creek Park will be the venue for the festivities.

Registration for the Fireside and S’More Family Literacy Day are now being accepted, and this yearly activity highlights the fun and importance of reading. There are three sessions on the schedule to choose from, and all ages can join in the excitement.

The participants will be able to attend a story time around a roaring bonfire, and s’more kits will be distributed so that everyone can enjoy a tasty treat. While the function is geared towards preschoolers, older siblings are welcome as well. Each registrant will also receive a set of activities to take home so they can keep the fun going.

One of the roles libraries often undertake is to promote learning and literacy by hosting organized events like this. Print shops can prepare a variety of promotional products that may be compiled into activity packs to hand out to the attendees at such an event.

The Airdrie Public Library will be hosting the Family Literature Day on January 29th, and the one-hour-long sessions start at 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The function is supported by Chinook Gate, and everyone will be asked to indicate how many s’more kits they will need when they register.
