The City of Wanneroo, which incorporates the suburb of Wangara, is soon to consider a proposal to open a new prehistoric-themed water playground at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex.
The agenda for the October Wanneroo Council meeting includes plans for an aquatic play space with an estimated $400,000 construction cost.
A briefing on the proposal states the draft concept is for a zero depth splash pad that would be suitable for all ages. The report notes the playground would draw on inspiration from the council’s other water playground facility at Aquamotion as well as the planned site’s neighbouring Dinosaur Park.
Should the council agree to the proposal, it would be built between February and June of 2019. Funds for the project would need to be set aside in Wanneroo Council’s 2019-2020 budget, and that may include an extra $40,000 for shade sails to cover the park.
The council report noted that it had received two submissions during the consultation period, which ran for four weeks between August and September. The consultation involved sending letters to 1,666 homes within a 400 metre perimeter of the proposed site. Council consultations by mail often use custom Letterheads.
