City of Wanneroo shopping facilities are set to expand following an application to council by Aldi.
As part of the application by the supermarket chain, residents from throughout the City, including Wangara, have an opportunity to comment on the proposal, which has been confirmed by an Aldi spokesperson.
The spokesman said the company was currently awaiting approval, after which it would be able to start construction work on the proposed Banksia Grove store immediately.
He said the Banksia Grove supermarket represented an extension of Aldi’s northern suburbs interests and was part of expansion plans over the long-term.
This year, a number of Aldi stores have already opened, including one of its first Western Australian supermarkets at nearby Lakeside Joondalup which has been trading since early June.
Marketing services, including Flyers, ensured there was a good turnout on opening day.
The spokesman said the company had plans to establish a total of 70 stores across the state in the next few years.
At this time, however, he said no other stores were confirmed.
Aldi operates 7,000 stores across three continents and, according to its website, provides everyday low prices on high-quality groceries.
The company opened its first store in Australia in 2001 and its 400 stores are estimated to provide employment for in excess of 9,000 staff.
Aldi also plans to launch 16 new stores in South Australia this year.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
