Industrial area project moves forward as EOIs called

Wanneroo Council is keen to hear from businesses interested in establishing operations in the Neerabup Industrial Area, near Wangara.

The project is moving forward with concept plans approved recently for the industrial area's next phase of development. This has sparked the call for EOIs (Expressions of Interest) from companies that may wish to establish their premises on the site as part of a leasehold model agreement. The results from this will form part of a business plan that the council will table for consideration.

Tracey Roberts, Mayor of Wanneroo, said the Neerabup landholding was among the city's key assets and had the potential to develop into one of its major employment hubs. She said the industrial area is set to provide the city with significant benefits economically, as well as foster business opportunities and job creations. She added:

“Retaining a proportion of the land through a leasehold model will enable the City to revisit land use at the end of each lease, ensuring that the creation of local jobs is prioritised.”

The establishment of new industrial zones such as this often have an effect on existing businesses, such as local printing services that can provide key office and marketing materials.

An amount of $980,523 has been allocated in the 2020/21 Budget for Capital Works to enable the development's progression.
