Oz Comic-Con is coming near East Perth for the fifth year, attracting lovers of all things “nerdy” and “geeky”. Celebrity guests will be present and merchandise will be for sale, the gaming zone will be open and guests are invited to join in Cosplay Central.
Cosplay, playing on the words ‘costumer’ and ‘roleplay’, is an opportunity for participants to dress up as their favourite character or celebrity. Special guests will be joining in this space and costume displays and competitions will be held with photographers on hand to capture the event.
Guests who will be attending, include television and film celebrities such as Brent Spiner (known to all pop culture followers as Data, the android on ‘Star Trek’), Melissa Joan Hart (aka ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’), and actress Torri Higginson of ‘Stargate Atlantis’ fame. They will be joined by representatives from the comic and publishing world, such as fantasy author Isobelle Carmody, artist and illustrator of comic Books Stewart McKenny, and Chinese mythology fiction author Kylie Chan. This sort of event will likely have Business Cards in circulation and Promotional Products on offer, as well as banner printing and Signs on display.
Comic-Con will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre at 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth.
