Moomba Festival returning bigger and better for 2023
West Melbourne residents will be on the doorstep of a myriad of family-friendly fun activities and entertainment as part of this year's Moomba Festival.
A huge programme has been put together to delight all attendees at the 69th annual staging of the major event, which has become the biggest free community festival in Australia.
Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp, said the festival, which last year attracted a record 1.4 million attendees, will be so big this year that an extra day has been added to cater for the programme. She added:
Poster printing campaigns have often helped to alert people to the fascinating array of entertainment and attractions, with many regular highlights returning. These include the Moomba Parade featuring additional puppets and five new floats, plus the hilarious Birdman Rally. Water sports competitors will also once again line up for the Moomba Masters, while games and rides to suit all ages are set to be enjoyed at the Moomba Carnival, plus so many more events. Feature films and fireworks will also light up the atmosphere each night.
The Moomba Festival, which will provide 800 jobs for people in the sectors of the service industry, construction, creative and the arts, will be held from 9 to 13 March.

“Across the five day extravaganza, we’re expecting more than one million Melburnians to flock to the banks of the Yarra to immerse themselves in festival favourites and provide a significant boost to city businesses.”
