GASAA to run free seminars to small print companies

The Graphic Arts Services Association of Australia (GASAA) will be running a series of free, informal seminars to small Print companies around Australia to help them cope with "natural, economic or personal disasters". The seminars will take a similar format to TV’s current affairs program Lateline and will focus on the theme of Continuity of Print.

GASAA has received a pot of funding from the Enterprise Connect programme, a $50 million federal government initiative from the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research that supports Australian SMESs.

The funding was secured as a result of recent natural disasters that have hit the country including bush fires and flooding.

Garry Knespal, GASAA executive officer said:

"We are delighted to receive the support of the federal government through Enterprise Connect, and to work with industry partners to bring this 'grass roots' industry engagement to multiple venues early next year.

"All businesses, large and small, need not only to plan for success, but also what to do should natural, economic or personal disaster strike."

This follows on from the three Spotlight Sessions that GASAA ran last year which looked at whether money could still be made from the Print industry. Knespal explained:

"They wouldn't have given [the grant funding] to us unless we had some runs on the board and shown we had some experience with these kinds of events."

The sessions will run across the country for small Print companies in West Melbourne and around Australia next February and March.
