To be located at Port Melbourne, the centre will focus on driving development, commercialisation and research of defence technologies.
Elbit is among the world's leading defence innovators. The latest move to establish a new centre for its operations will provide an ideal space in which to create new products and technologies in conjunction with research organisations and Victorian universities, while also creating new local jobs and bolstering the capabilities of Victoria's defence chain.
Industry Recovery and Support Minister Martin Pakula was delighted with the latest move, saying:
“We’re proud to be supporting Elbit to grow its global footprint in Melbourne, an investment that will boost the commercialisation of defence innovations and create new local jobs.”
Pakula said Elbit supplies and develops a range of specialist products and technology systems that use networks, data, sensors and artificial intelligence in the homeland security and defence areas.
Brochure printing campaigns have often been executed to spread the word about industry innovations, such as the ones undertaken by Elbit.
The Defence Force in Australia also benefits from the company's digitisation technologies, which incorporate interfaces with systems that are unmanned and naval and airborne platforms. Some of these are set to be developed and adapted at the new centre for the potential use by emergency services, in areas such as firefighting.
