In a move that is set to create jobs, increase visitor numbers and benefit business, the City's Event Partnership Programme 2023 will assist in the delivery and staging of 48 events next year, representing an investment of $1.4 million as well as in-kind support worth about $430,000. The funds will pave the way for a live music open-air series, Portuguese festival and a chance for visitors to experience floating entertainment.
Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp said the city's amazing events calendar was among its biggest assets and one which continually attracts people and, she added:
“We’re proud to support much-loved events such as Lunar New Year, the Night Noodle Markets and the NGV Kids Summer Festival, as well as six exciting, never-before-seen experiences.”
The 2022 programme is still being enjoyed with featured events such as the NGV's new exhibition called Alexander McQueen, the Fringe Festival and the city's International Jazz Festival coming up soon.
Poster printing campaigns have often accompanied many of the events rolled out for the enjoyment of visitors.
The Mayor said an amazing Christmas Festival was also currently being planned to wow everyone prior to the annual celebrations to welcome in the New Year. Events, she said, were a leading reason why people travelled into the city, and this has helped to provide a great boost to the economy.
