Now into its seventh year, the contemporary art award is among Wyndham City's most anticipated cultural and art events, and it provides emerging and local artists with an opportunity to showcase their works of art alongside some of the best of Australia's artistic talents.
According to City Liveability and Design Director Ludo Campbell-Reid, the event has grown to be hotly contested by artists from all over Australia, and this has boosted both its reputation and quality, while also reaffirming Wyndham's reputation for presenting and curating a contemporary and diverse art programme. He added:
“The delivery of the prize on a digital platform means that their artwork is able to be presented to a very vast audience outside of the walls of the gallery.”
Prize money of $12,000 will be awarded to the top 2021 Wyndham Art Prize winner, $2,500 for the People's Choice Award winner and $5,000 will to go to the successful Local Emerging Art Prize recipient, whose entry will also be included in the Contemporary Art Collection of Wyndham City and will be put on public display.
Exhibitions such as this have often featured in brochure printing campaigns promoting local must-see attractions for locals and visitors.
Entries, which can include everything from painting and sculpture to printmaking and video, will be accepted online through the city's website until 9am on February 21, 2021.
