Werribee to host wild photography

A mobile workshop specialising in safari photography is coming to Werribee later this year.

Photographers in Werribee looking for a brand-new experience can enrol in a new wildlife photography course. The upcoming event takes place on a safari bus in Werribee’s own Open Range Zoo and offers a chance to pick up new practical skills while capturing stunning shots of the reserve’s inhabitants.

Wildlife photographers often depend on professional printing services to create plush reproductions of the animal images they capture to keep, share and sell.

The adventurous workshop is presented by the Alwyn Hanson - Alwyns Photo School Melbourne and lasts three and half hours. The course is designed for students of all skill levels and promises the opportunity to photograph a wide range of animals including zebras, giraffes, rhinos, antelopes and more.

The bus will get off the beaten track for closer encounters with the animals away from fences and cages for more dynamic photography. Afterwards, photographers will be guided around the rest of the zoo to see gorillas, lions, cheetahs, meerkats, hippos and more.

The Safari Photography Course will take place on Sunday, March 2 at Werribee Open Range Zoo. The course will begin at 9.30 am and run until 1 pm, and the zoo is located on K Road in Werribee South. Tickets are priced between $179 and $229 per photographer and include zoo admission.
