Runners are already in training at Werribee, Victoria for the annual Wyndham Rotary Fun Run.
Registrations have started rolling in for the major fundraising event, which is held to aid the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The club is aiming to attract more than 1,000 walkers and runners to this year’s event. Participants can select between a 5k and 10k run, or can take on a 4k or 8k walk if they prefer.
All starters will leave from Chirnside Park and follow a scenic route around the Werribee River, which organisers say will be ideal for everyone from experienced competitors to novices.
Entry is open to corporate teams, family, friends and individuals. Special guests, giveaways and lots more will be included in the day’s fun programme of events.
Since the first fun run was held eight years ago, an estimated $60,000 has been raised for the hospital’s appeal, which helps sick children.
Free training for the event is being held over eight weeks prior to the Fun Run by the Western Recreational Running Group (WRGG) in Hoppers Lane, Werribee. The WRGG meets at 6.15pm each Thursday.
Flyer printing throughout the local area has no doubt helped boost the number of entrants participating in the event each year. This year’s Wyndham Rotary Fun Run will be held on March 1, and registrations close on February 27.
