Werribee, Victoria, has a new neighbour with the announcement that Manor Lakes has officially been gazetted a suburb.
The news, delivered recently to Wyndham City Council by the Office of Geographic Names and the State Government, comes after a long campaign by residents.
Cr. Peter Maynard congratulated everyone on their efforts and said he could not be happier to convey the news to residents that they are now residing in the state’s newest suburb.
He said Manor Lakes brings the number of vibrant and unique suburbs in Wyndham to 18, and all could boast a proud history with an exciting time ahead.
Cr. Maynard added that there is still a busy transition period ahead for residents and businesses within the new suburb as the change in address will have to be made across the board. This includes private mail, as well as office Stationery such as Business Cards and Letterheads.
He added that Manor Lakes will share the same postcode as Wyndham Vale and that Australia Post was already aware of the change and will be providing a 6-to-12-month grace period for correspondence still bearing the original name.
Residents, however, will need to contact VicRoads to update their addresses on drivers’ licences, as well as contact service providers.
Cr. Maynard said free internet services to update details were available at Wyndham Vale Library. Further information is available by visiting the council website.
