New exhibition to showcase local artists

The Wyndham Culture Centre in Werribee is to host the Forward Motion exhibition as part of this year's Fringe Festival in Melbourne.

Hobson Bay City artists together with curators from Wunder Gym and Science Gallery Melbourne as well as Wyndham City, have teamed up to present the exhibition in conjunction with the 2022 festival.

Councillor Marcel Mahfoud said the 2022 Fringe Festival theme is `Future Hindsight' and people from the many parts of West Melbourne have been invited to participate in mentoring programmes such as that on offer by Wunder Gym. He added:

“The Wunder Gym programme is designed to encourage, and support individuals’ own creative practice and develop access to support creative networks and audiences.”

The City's partnership with Hobsons Bay is to extend support to artists in other municipalities. Reflecting back on history while also looking ahead to the future and the changes that have occurred between the two are being embraced throughout this year's festival, as well as providing insight into a more vibrant and diverse arts sector in the years ahead.

Artistic talents within the community are seen on everything from paintings and murals to brochure printing campaigns.

Exhibiting artists at the Wyndham Cultural Centre exhibition, which will be held from 22 September to 15 October, range from Matthew Simpson, Steven Partridge and Maria Nardo to Simpson Myer, Meredith Jones and Carol Rowlands.
