Businesses in Werribee have until the end of the month to take advantage of council funding to help improve the health of their workforce.
Wyndham City Council is offering grants of up to $2,500 for organisations with at least 20 staff members.
The money should be used to improve mental and physical health for employees, and companies must likewise register on the council’s Achievement Programme, which offers practical steps and tools towards a healthier lifestyle.
The funding can be spent on anything relating to health and firms could, for example, work with a printing company to produce an exercise booklet to help employees improve their fitness and posture at work.
One previous applicant has run education sessions to help employees quit smoking, while another hopes to install a bike rack to encourage staff to be more active.
Councillor Bob Fairclough said by committing to the scheme, businesses were helping themselves and their staff. He commented:
“By committing to the Achievement Program as part of their grant application, employers are giving staff a better shot at a healthy lifestyle while also improving safety, morale and productivity for their organisations.”
Small organisations can apply for up to $1,500, while firms with more than 200 staff can receive up to $2,500.
Applications must be received by Wednesday, December 31st. For more information, visit the Wyndham City Council website.
