Gallery celebrates with online exhibition

A special 10th anniversary exhibition that showcases works previously displayed at Wyndham Art Gallery in Werribee is now available online.

Aptly named Decade, the exhibition celebrates the artistic programming that has occurred during the past decade at the gallery, which is both small and ambitious.

The celebration involves the creation of a archival website dedicated to the period, as well as a publication that has been beautifully designed to feature past exhibits. It also acknowledges and puts the spotlight on the rich variety of artworks and wonderful artists.

In a statement, Wyndham City Councillor Marcel Mahfoud explained that providing access for the entire community to art such as that available at the local gallery was something to which the council strived, and it was therefore a delight to celebrate such a milestone. He added:

“We are honoured that Wyndham Art Gallery has emerged to prominence, gaining a reputation as the biggest little gallery in the West of Melbourne.”

Mahfoud, a passionate art supporter, praised the many creative artists who had exhibited throughout the past decade. The works of artists like this often feature in brochure printing campaigns promoting individual exhibitions.

The councillor described Decade as a retrospective of a selection of prominent works featured as part of some 70 or more exhibitions held at the gallery since its opening.

The digitally based exhibition is available online now, and the publication, which is being published with the assistance of Black Ink Books, is due out mid-2022.
