At Hoppers Crossing's Grange Reserve a new electronic scoreboard, made possible through a $75,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, is now up and running to ensure time remaining and scores of games in progress can be easily tracked by all involved. The sporting complex at Victoria University in Werribee has received a new synthetic matting to minimise injury risks to athletes competing in the long jump pit and track events while park bench seating has been added to Arndell Park Reserve in Truganina.
Wyndham City Councillor Peter Maynard suggested the upgrade projects had been undertaken through the Sports Facility Strategy Implementation program and had been earmarked for completion during the 2022/23 period.
Sporting events are popular within the city and are often advertised locally through regular flyer printing campaigns.
He said that while the works may seem of a minor scale, their implementation would significantly enhance the overall sporting experience of everyone involved including visiting teams, spectators and the host clubs. He added:
“Other projects on track for completion over the coming months include the installation of lighting at Price Reserve in Werribee South, barrier netting at Saltwater Reserve in Point Cook and a pitch fence at Williams Landing Reserve.”
