The Werribee Open Range Zoo has welcomed a new baby zebra and will be running safari tours for visitors to see it.
Born in early November, the baby is the first zebra to be born at the zoo in 17 years. The female foal was named Zari, which is an African inspired name that means ‘golden’. Zari was quick to get up and around on her legs, only 20 minutes after her birth and was soon exploring her new world.
The zebra family live in the African savannah area of the zoo with a variety other local inhabitants such as giraffes, rhinos and antelopes. Parents Zaide and Melaka are keeping a keen eye on the youngster and teaching her some important moves as well as how to mingle with the locals.
Visitors to the zoo can see Zari either by visiting the zoo during daylight hours or participating in one of the sunset safaris on offer. The safari runs at sunset, which is the time when most of the animals are most active. Visitors are transported via safari bus out to the savannah area, which encompasses around 45 hectares of open plains.
Guests will be able to see Zari in her natural habitat while also having the opportunity to see the wide variety of impressive African animals that live with her. Attractions such as this often use Promotional Products for visitors to take home as a momento.
