A special Creative Pathways Paint Day has brought together artistic young people from Footscray, Victoria and throughout the City of Maribyrnong.
The event saw the area’s young people put their artistic talents on show for the creation of a street art installation on the outside of a wall behind Footscray’s Chemist Warehouse building.
A keen starter on the day was 2015 Creative Pathways programme graduate Georgia Wardell, who has been interested in street art and graffiti since she was a young child. Pictures of graffiti art on Postcards and Brochures always managed to catch her eye.
She joined the arts project at Creative Pathways to learn more about the craft and build on her artistic skills.
Georgia said the experience gave her a much clearer picture about the industry in which she hopes to be fully involved in the future, and also helped to improve her skills.
The young artist also managed to gain some extra work from the experience, which she says will look great in her portfolio.
This is the second year Council has run the innovative arts project, which aims to engage the area’s youth in street art production in a series of workshops hosted by professional street artists.
A Council spokesman said the project has seen many aspiring artists create unique street art at various sites throughout Footscray, with each participant building a more robust artists’ portfolio for use when furthering their careers.Get a Free Quote for Postcards Get a Free Quote for Brochures
