Budding filmmakers will have the chance to show off their skills at the second annual Freeze Frame Film Festival in Maribyrnong next month.
The festival’s competition, which is open to anyone under the age of 25 who lives or studies in the city, is being organised by the Maribyrnong Freeza, which is based in Footscray and provides activities and entertainment for young people in the region.
The contest has two categories for entries; the first of which is for secondary students at any of Maribyrnong's high schools, while the second is an open category for everyone else. Participants can enter with a solo effort or work on their films as part of a group.
Entry is free and prizes will be awarded to the best visual creation in each category, with winners chosen by a panel of expert judges. Another prize will be awarded to the film chosen by the Freeza committee.
All of the films will be shown at a special festival screening at the Sun theatre in Yarraville on Monday September 16. The festival runs from 7:00 to 9:00pm and tickets are $5. Successful filmmakers might like to think about poster printing to advertise their film screening.
Films must be in DVD format and should be delivered along with an entry form to the Phoenix Youth Centre by 5:00pm on Friday August 30. Any genre is allowed, but the film must be suitable for a general audience. For more information, visit the Maribyrnong council website.
