The owners of a coffee shop will be celebrating after being included among the crème de la crème in a major food guide.
Guerilla Espresso has been awarded the best small café title in
The Age newspaper’s Good Food Guide for 2014 after being open for just over a year.
The café, which opened in June 2013, is located in Footscray Markets opposite the train station. It is housed in a small space formerly occupied by a video store and offers two blends of coffee, toasted sandwiches, homemade soup and freshly squeezed juices. The seasonally changing menu is made with produce bought from the market next door.
The guide said the café defined “what a great café can be in a small space”.
More than 300 cafes were assessed before the awards were given to just 10 cafes at a special ceremony earlier this month.
To get a mention in a well-known guide is a great marketing boost for any business and should bring new customers to the café. The Good Food title could be used in promotional material and the café could use flyer printing or poster printing to share the accolade with their customers and perhaps even offer a special deal to mark their inclusion.
The Age Good Café Guide is available at bookshops or from The Age website. The café is open for breakfast and lunch, cakes and coffee.
