Footscray businesses have the chance to do some team building and raise money for a good cause later this month at the Suit Up and Ride cycling event in Melbourne's Docklands.
The ride is a simple lap of the Waterfront City Promenade route but participants must be wearing corporate clothes, such as a shirt and tie or their uniform if they would usually wear one. Riders must also use one of the provided Melbourne Bikeshare bicycles. All the money raised from the event will go to Orygen Youth Health research projects.
Orygen Youth Health is a Melbourne-based mental health organisation that works with people aged between 15 and 25, as well as carrying out research in the mental health area. Projects which will receive money from the Suit Up and Ride event include research into suicide prevention, peer support programmes and campaigns to raise awareness. More than $150,000 was raised from last year's event and more than $12,000 has already been raised this year.
Businesses can enter as many teams of five riders as they wish by signing up and paying the team registration fee. Poster printing is a good way of promoting participation in the event and encouraging people to donate money. Prizes, including one for the best dressed team, will be awarded during the free entertainment at the end of event.
The event takes place on Friday, November 23 between 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm. For more information, or to register, visit the Suit Up and Ride website.
