Agricultural show to be hosted in Shepparton
Fans of horticulture, animals and crafts can enjoy a one or two-day excursion to a local venue in October.
The first annual Shepparton Show took place in 1877, near the Goulburn River. In 1899, the show moved to its current home at a site on the High Street, and was only interrupted during World War II as the area was used for recruiting and training, and for the two Covid lockdown years.
The event was rebranded in 2015, following redevelopment of the grounds in 2003, which has just recently been completed, so that the full space is available for the first time.
The schedule includes events such as the new Dog High Jump, showing of dairy cattle and small horses and the judging of fruits, vegetables and flowers. There is also a Glow Roller Disco, and rides and fireworks on the final evening, if the weather allows.
For sustenance, there will be a variety of pop-up traders that will cater for all tastes.
Stall-holders often take advantage of local printing shops in order to create labels that can describe items for sale, or business cards to accompany each purchase.
The 149th Annual Shepparton Show is taking place next Friday 10 until Saturday 11 October. A two-day family pass is currently available for $60, while a one-day pass costs $45. The location is the Shepparton Showgrounds, which can be found on the High Street in Shepparton.
