Native Victorian artist Lynne Boyd will share her new body of work in an exhibition entitled ‘Water Mark.’
The paintings will be displayed at the Charles Nodrum Gallery on Church Street, Richmond. Artists showcasing their work in galleries often use poster printing to promote their exhibitions to reach a wider audience.
Boyd’s latest paintings feature a clash between the beauty of the sea against the terrifying threat of climate change and pollution. Her works are influenced by poetry and music. This new exhibition of Boyd’s will run from February 9 to March 2.
Boyd’s work is deeply inspired by the beauty of Port Phillip Bay, a port in Victoria nearly surrounded by the urban sprawl of Melbourne and its suburbs. She states:
“Port Phillip Bay continues to act as muse for my painting in this body of work.”
For the most part, the paintings on show will be a collection of oils on linen, with the addition of some works featuring collage to represent “what lies beneath the sea”. The artist has cited the poetry of Emily Dickenson and T.S. Eliot as inspiration.
Boyd completed her studies in Victoria. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the Victorian College of Arts and followed this with a Master of Fine Arts at Monash University in Melbourne.
The exhibition ‘Water Mark’ opens February 9.
