Indie folk singer and songwriter to play in Richmond

Fans of indie music in the Richmond area might be keen to listen to Esha Tewari as she plays in a local venue as part of her debut Australian tour.

Esah Tewari has been selling out shows and played South by Southwest (SXSW) Sydney Music Festival in October 2024. Now, she is addressing the East Coast, where she will be playing new songs and old favourites. She cites influences such as Mazzy Star, Big Thief and Beabadoobee.

The Nepalese and Australian songstress writes mainly in her bedroom and came to public attention with the independent release of Beautiful Boy - although her first release was With Ease in January this year. Tewari has released eight songs in total, from two EPs.

Mainly acoustic, Tewari draws on her own experiences as a teenage girl, focusing heavily on melody and lyrics. According to critics, her work has a melancholy, wistful flavour and her fans are known as Tewarians.

Esha Tewari’s debut Australian tour is taking place at The Leadbeater Hotel in Richmond on Sunday, 8 December at 5.30pm. Tickets cost $34.70. There will also be special guests, to be confirmed.

This is a second showing due to popular demand and sold-out venues on the tour.
