A Richmond childcare centre is celebrating after scooping one of the Yarra City Sustainability Awards earlier this month.
The awards, which are now in their sixth year, reward residents, businesses and organisations that work to improve their sustainability or educate others about living in a sustainable way to reduce their impact on the environment.
Bridge Road Early Learning Centre was named winner of the Educational Services category at the ceremony, which was held at Richmond Town Hall on Thursday, June 4th.
The centre was praised for the way it teaches even its youngest children about protecting the environment. The preschool has a number of sustainable initiatives, including a worm farm that is fed from food scraps and produces fertilizer for the vegetable and herb garden, the use of water tanks, and encouraging children to recycle and use recycled materials in activities.
The winners in each category were presented with a certificate and could also use poster printing to promote their new accolade or, in the case of organisations, make a new Stationery printing order with the title included in the letterhead.
Other winners included 3000acres, an organisation that helps people identify unused plots of land and turn them into community gardens, and Outdoors Inc., a group that works with people suffering from mental health issues, offering them outdoor opportunities to learn new skills and boost self-esteem.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
