The payments, according to Government Services Minister Stuart Robert, are provided to help support apprentices and students as they endeavour to secure career and study goals at educational facilities such as the nearby Box Hill Institute of TAFE. He added:
"It has been truly inspirational to see the class of 2020 rise to the challenge and now we are encouraging you to claim early to give you more time to prepare for the next exciting chapter in your life."
Robert said the online claim process was easier than ever before and enabled participants to claim for Austudy, ABSTUDY or Youth Allowance as early as 13 weeks prior to the commencement of an apprenticeship or course.
Opportunities such as this have often been widely advertised via extensive flyer printing campaigns.
The ABSTUDY or Youth Allowance rate may also be a degree higher for those students who may be required to relocate for their studies, with eligibility for a Relocation Scholarship also a possibility. Students who have completed Year 12 recently and are relocating from remote or outer regional Australia in order to carry out tertiary studies this year can also apply for a new Tertiary Access Payment valued at $5,000.
