Opportunity to learn a new skill in Mitcham

A creative opportunity for the New Year is available in Mitcham, making use of mixed media, with professional teachers on hand to advise.

Mixed media refers to a kind of art that might use different materials to create a piece; for example, acrylic painting with collage elements. At the 10-week course running in Mitcham, experienced and passionate artists will guide participants to create works in their media of choice. This might involve painting, drawing, collage and sculptural items, with each piece individual to the creator.

The Mitcham Community House is a neighbourhood resource where people can learn, socialise and connect. It is a not-for profit organisation, established in 1975, and emphasises inclusivity, affordability and adaptability. Volunteers are key to making the space work. Such spaces often make use of local Print shops in order to produce advertising for events, helping to keep the Mitcham residents informed of what’s available on their doorstep.

Term 1 of the Art - Mixed Media course starts on Thursday, 30 January, running until 3 April, from 1pm until 3pm. The cost is $15 for a trial session, with the full course priced at $145.

The venue is the Mitcham Community House, which can be found at 19 Brunswick Road in Mitcham. Participants should bring along their own materials such as paints, pencils and paper.
