Mitcham area to enjoy Indian music

An accomplished composer and musician from India will be appearing live in Melbourne this year at one of the city’s leading venues.

Those who appreciate international sounds in Mitcham and other suburbs of the coastal capital can see acclaimed playback singer Arijit Singh in concert this winter. In July Singh will take to the stage of Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena to entertain his Australian fans with a single-night performance.

With multiple accolades including seven Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award, he is praised for singing a wide range of music genres in different languages.

Singh entered musical training early at the age of three with the Hazari brothers and by the time he was nine receive a government scholarship to train as an Indian classical music vocalist. Growing up he heard Bengali classical but also listened to European composers like Beethoven and Mozart.

Arijit Singh will now be at the Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, July 14. The events venue is sited at 200 Batman Avenue in Melbourne and the concert will start at 7 pm.
