Creative Industries Minister Danny Pearson said the Government will be renewing its Creative State programme and is also keen to hear from creative workers and younger members of the community with aspirations of joining creative industries to take part by having a say.
Pearson said that performing and visual arts, alongside creative industries in Victoria – which incorporate various sectors including fashion and design, digital games, screen production, music, publishing and literature – employ about 290,000 people and generated an estimated $30 billion towards the annual state economy prior to the pandemic, in which they were hit hard. He added:
"The creative industries are at the heart of Victoria’s economy, the vibrancy of our communities and our way of life – and will be essential in our post-pandemic recovery.”
The industry includes many high profile members who have previously been seen featured as part of poster printing campaigns advertising upcoming events pre-pandemic.
Pearson encouraged all people involved in creative industries to help in the creation of the 2021-2025 strategy by taking part in the online survey.
Survey participants will be asked about the impact COVID-19 has had, current industry issues and needs, and ideas heading forward.
