Hundreds of families are expected to turn back time for a day when they gather at Mitcham’s Schwerkolt Cottage for a special picnic.
The event is being held as part of the 2014 Schwerkolt Cottage Heritage Family Day, which organisers say will provide something for all ages.
An afternoon of laughter and fun is planned; it will include old-style activities and games set around the original home of some of the area’s earliest pioneers, known as Schwerkolt Cottage, which now also houses the local museum.
The stone building, which is ideally set by the tranquil bushland park of Yarran Dheran, has provided inspiration to everyone who visits, including artists and photographers keen to secure an image that could ultimately be selected for Promotional Products such as postcard printing.
In addition to devouring the culinary delights contained in picnic hampers, family members will be able to take part in a host of activities, including a tour through the museum and cottage.
The Brumbies Bush Band will provide dance music, while local groups will display their arts and crafts for all to see. There will also be coffee, tea, a sausage sizzle, and cordial available.
The heritage family day is a free annual event and will be held on Sunday, September 14th, from 11am to 4pm at the Schwerkolt Cottage and Museum Complex in Mitcham.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
