Mitcham residents will have an opportunity to attend a myriad of events being staged throughout the City of Whitehorse to help celebrate Sustainable Living Week.
According to a Council spokesperson, the week provides fun and free events to inspire people to make a few simple changes which may ultimately have a positive impact on the environment, community and lifestyle in the long term.
The week-long event will be launched on May 29 at the Box Hill Town Hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Free to attend, it will feature a presentation about Urban Agriculture by former chef and now sustainable farmer Paul West, who also hosts the River Cottage Australia television show.
Renowned sustainability authority Michael Mobbs, who made his own Sydney home self-sufficient, will join West at the launch as well as speaking at another event on May 30.
An extensive list of events has been lined up to celebrate Sustainable Living Week, which is to be held from May 29 to June 6. Flyer printing services can be used to promote events to the community.
Events are also listed online and range from author Jason Chongue discussing his book ‘Plant Society: Create an Indoor Oasis for Your Urban Space’ to a Native Kokedama Workshop and a special night showing of ‘Chasing Coral’, a movie which focuses on disappearing coral reefs around the world.
